Here’s what our customers have to say

“Dr. Anna Strange at Berries Hearing and Optical Center is amazing. Her knowledge of hearing issues and potential remediation is vast. I have been fitted with a set of hearing aids that surpassed my expectations. After years of purchasing hearing aids that did nothing for me, Dr Strange recommended ReSound hearing aids from her offerings that interface with my smart phone giving me an amazing amount of control over volume, clarity and noise reduction in specific locations. .The aids have improved my ability to understand speech both in person and on the phone. Well worth the cost of the hearing aids and follow up visits with Dr Strange that tweak the input and compression of sounds to a lower frequency making sounds I couldn’t hear before audible.”

“Dr Anna is the BEST (and Michael for eyeglasses is also great). Dr Anna has taken excellent care of our 91 yr old mom for 5+ years. My mother’s world has been vastly improved by the care of Dr Anna; Mom can now hear so well that we can whisper and Mom can understand us. We consider Dr Anna a partner in our mother’s well-being. Lucky to have Dr Anna’s talent and caring right here in Brunswick, Maine. To hear and be able to participate fully in the world is a gift, and we thank Dr Anna for her skill and caring manner in treating our mom.”

NJ Hynes

“Berries, Dr Anna and Michael are fantastic. I am over-the-moon happy with my ReSound hearing aids. The atmosphere at Berries is totally family-style. I ask dumb questions, one after the other, and Anna had not once made me feel like the ignoramus that I know I am. Bonus: they’re right in town just a couple of doors from both a nice deli and Gelato Fiasco.”

What is an Audiologist?
An audiologist is a healthcare professional specializing in identifying, diagnosing, treating and monitoring disorders of the auditory (hearing) system. Audiologists are trained to diagnose, manage and/or treat hearing problems. They dispense hearing aids.
What causes hearing loss?
In the vast majority of cases, hearing loss occurs as a result of damage to the hair cells in the inner ear. There are many causes of hearing loss, including aging, noise exposure, medications, and genetics, among others.
How much do hearing aids cost?
Much like all technology devices, hearing aid costs are dependent upon your individual needs. Not all hearing aids are alike. They are available in a wide range of styles, and come with a range of features. Features that reduce noise, eliminate feedback, improve clarity of speech, and/or enable direct connection to cell phones, televisions and other electronic devices have significantly better performance, but can also increase the cost. It is important to meet with an audiologist today to discuss your options.
Are all hearing aids the same?
Not all hearing aids are alike. They are designed to accommodate a range of different listening environments. What works well for one person, may not be the solution for another. There are also several different styles available:
• In-the-Ear (ITE)hearing aids
• In-the-Canal (ITC)
• Completely-in-the-Canal (CIC)
• Receiver in the Canal (RIC)
• Behind the Ear (BTE)
When should I get a hearing aid?
As soon as your hearing loss is identified. When you wear hearing aids you are retraining the brain to hear again, which takes patience and time. The longer your brain adjusts to not hearing things clearly, the longer it can take to be able to understand sounds again.
Can you repair my broken hearing aid?
Many broken hearing aids can be repaired; however it depends on the nature of the damage. We would love to take a look and give an estimate on the cost to get your hearing aid back in working order!

We service and repair all major brands of hearing aids!
